As America is going through the toughest economic period, managing your household expenses is becoming increasingly difficult. This is worse for single parents who have only their meager income to pay for all expenses.

The government seemed to have felt this and was generous enough to provide special incentives for single parents. From the grant money that the government puts aside every year for the welfare of the financially imbalanced, it provides diverse grants for the single parents.

As the biggest challenge for the parent is their child’s educational expense, the government allocates funds to grant agencies to distribute amongst the single parents who prove their need. These are namely the Federal Pell Grant; TEACH Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Academic Competitiveness Grant, and Institutional Grants. To avail these one has to contact the financial aid office of the university the child is applying to, and fill out an FAFSA form, which determines your financial standing.

To relieve you of your hardships, there are multiple grants that will help you and your child live comfortably. In addition, you have to provide for your children’s educational expenses and their lunches and extra curricular activities so that they do not feel left out.
