The cry of our world is that the more money you have the better off your are. It goes with out saying, this is not true. For many people, who have had tons of money and the piles of research speak exactly the opposite. The gift of transfer or giving strikes a gentle balance of making the most of what has been given to you. It is not just about the money. I hope we believe that we have more to offer than just money. The peace comes with the understanding how to balance the gift of transfer to others. Avoiding extreme behaviors or decisions.
Whether this life or this life to come, I wonder what it would be like to look back at our life and the world. What would we think of our most “advanced civilizations” and how we lived our life. Once we grasp our society and publications, we might conclude that money has the highest value of importance in our life based on how much time and effort we spent towards acquiring, spending, and managing it. We would find articles talking about the rank of who has amassed the most. To make matters worst, we would find people who care if one person is ahead of another.
Our culture put the golden cafe to shame, our society worships those with a large new worth and celebrates the arrival of mega millionaires. Who cares if it has cost the person their family and friends, being a workaholic is praised. American’s have strong pride in its work ethic. History has shown American’s to be deeply rooted in ideas of economic self-reliance and the will power to lift ourselves out of the darkest of times to make a better way.
Burning the candle at both ends is seen as a good thing, and can only lead to success in the end. Who care if it took 50-, 60-, and 70-hour per week. The stories of rag to riches always has a large reading audience that gives hope to millions. We find it in our newspapers, magazines, from Ink to People, along with television talk shows and special interview are filled with people who came from humble beginning to achieve great success and wealth of the financial type.
